Bajiquan

What is Bajiquan?

Bajiquan (八极拳), meaning “Eight Extremes Fist”, is a Chinese martial art known for explosive, short-range power. Originating in northern China, it became famous as a bodyguard art, used to protect political leaders.

Bajiquan emphasizes elbow strikes, body-checking, and sudden bursts of energy.

Why Train Bajiquan?

  • Explosive Power – devastating close-range strikes.
  • Combat Focused – direct and practical.
  • Traditional Forms – rooted in Chinese martial heritage.
  • Rare in Europe – unique and specialized.
  • Internal-External Blend – combines soft power with hard strikes.

How Does Bajiquan Compare?

  • Vs Xingyi – both aggressive, but Bajiquan is more explosive.
  • Vs Karate – Karate uses longer ranges, Bajiquan prefers close-in power.
  • Vs Muay Thai – Bajiquan uses elbows differently, in sudden bursts.
