Eskrima / Arnis / Kali

What is Eskrima?

Eskrima (also known as Arnis or Kali) is the traditional martial art of the Philippines, focusing on stick fighting, knives, and bladed weapons. It also includes unarmed techniques and grappling.

Developed as a practical system for warfare and self-defense, Eskrima emphasizes weapon training first, then empty-hand techniques.

Why Train Eskrima?

  • Weapons First – unique approach to martial training.
  • Practical Self-Defense – knife and stick defense.
  • Fast & Dynamic – quick reflexes and timing.
  • Cultural Heritage – deeply tied to Filipino identity.
  • Global Recognition – popular in military and security training.

How Does Eskrima Compare?

  • Vs Kobudo – both weapons systems, but Eskrima focuses on sticks and blades.
  • Vs HEMA – both weapons-focused, different cultural roots.
  • Vs Krav Maga – Eskrima specializes in armed defense, Krav Maga in urban scenarios.
