What is Naginata?
Naginata (薙刀) is the Japanese martial art of the naginata, a polearm with a curved blade. Historically used by samurai, it became associated with female warriors (onna-bugeisha).
Modern Atarashii Naginata is practiced as a sport similar to Kendo, with protective armor and bamboo weapons, while Koryu Naginata preserves traditional kata.
