Xingyi
What is Xingyi?
Xingyiquan (形意拳), meaning “Form-Intent Fist”, is a Chinese internal martial art with origins in the 17th century. It emphasizes direct, linear attacks and the use of intent (yi) to generate power.
Movements are based on the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) and twelve animal forms, making it both philosophical and combative.
Why Train Xingyi?
Internal Power – focus on intent and efficiency.
Simple & Direct – aggressive, linear strikes.
Philosophical Foundation – five elements theory.
Combat Effectiveness – practical for self-defense.
Health & Energy – internal breathing and alignment.
How Does Xingyi Compare?
Vs Bagua – Xingyi is linear, Bagua is circular.
Vs Tai Chi – Xingyi is more aggressive and straightforward.
Vs Karate – Xingyi is softer internally, but equally powerful.
